Now Forming – Lenten CONNECT! Groups:
Lent begins this year on March 2, with Ash Wednesday, and ends on Palm Sunday, April 10. The 40-days of Lent represent the time Jesus spent in the wilderness being tempted after his baptism. Lent is a time to prepare ourselves for a continued life of discipleship, a time to look at our lives anew; to consider what has brought us to where we are; to ponder what we are carrying within us that needs to be examined. It is a time to meet God again.
La Verne Church of the Brethren has a wonderful tradition of gathering in small groups during the 6-weeks of Lent through intentional engagement with others around topics of shared interest. In the past, groups have formed around bible study, bird-watching, knitting, walking, spiritual practices, hiking, and music, to name a few.
What these groups have in common is that they were all started by someone who decided to share their passion or interests and invited others to join them.
