Mid-Week Groups

Wednesday Afternoon Book Study

WABS (Wednesday Morning Book Study Group). The A stands for Afternoon, when we actually used to meet in the afternoon! Now we meet in the morning, but didn’t want to change to WMBS Book Study Group, so kept the WABS. It has a more mellifluous sound than WMBS; which sounds like someone eating their morning mush!

Anyhow, WABS does not meet in December, but will resume meetings in the New Year, on Wednesday, January 14, at 10:00 a.m. in the Church Library. We will discuss The Honey Bus: A Memoir of Loss, Courage, and a Girl Saved by Bees, by Meredith May.

This will begin our new year with “an unforgettable story about finding oneself in the most unusual of places and how a tiny, little-understood insect could save a life. Part family story, part beekeeping odyssey, the Honey Bus is a rich and lyrical memoir of a girl who journeyed into the hive – and found herself”. Hope to see you on January 14, at 10:00 a.m.!  Happy Christmas and many bookish blessings in the New Year!

Choir!

December is a great month to hear music at our church! The choir is on fire spreading the word about our two upcoming performances of The Light of Hope Returning composed by our own Shawn Kirchner. From San Dimas to Upland, flyers and posters are posted in businesses, libraries, senior centers, retirement homes, and churches. Press releases and ads are being published in newspapers, newsletters, on public event calendars and on social media.

Choir members are sending personal invitations and soon a banner will be placed on the corner of Bonita and E street above the church’s marquee sign. Momentum is growing.

Along with promoting our concert, during December, a month of carols, choir members will be busy with Advent Sunday anthems, extended rehearsals, cookie baking, poinsettia orders, church decorations, programs to write, proofread and print. Finally we perform our concerts. And when all that is done, we get to participate in our always heartwarming Christmas Eve worship.  Please come all month and hear us celebrate Christmas.

The energy and success of our choir helps build our church family. One way you can join in this effort is by becoming a choir patron. Contact Muir Davis to learn about the different levels of giving. muir.davis@gmail.com
