Mid-Week Groups

Men-a-logue

Men-a-logue, an informal gathering of men at the La Verne Church of the Brethren, was created to help men do what women do naturally visit with their friends! Rev. Vern Jahnke, late of Claremont, started Men-a-logue about fifteen years ago.  He had been a former interim minister of the congregation.  After that service, Vern and his wife, Debra, continued attending services with the congregation.

Men-a-logue meets monthly, usually on the second Wednesday of the month, to visit and catch up with each other’s activities.  The meetings are very informal and the group meets in the Fireside Room or in the library at 7 p.m.

Wednesday Afternoon Book Study (WABS)

Our book choice for the Wednesday, January 8th, 10 a.m. meeting, will be Louise Penny’s latest two novels:

A World of Curiosities (2022) and The Grey Wolf (2024). Choosing both will help us catch up with Penny’s deft storyline featuring beloved Inspector Gamache.  All are welcome to join the discussion of these and other recommended works.

We meet in the Church Library on the second Wednesday of each month, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Hope to see you in the New Year on Jan. 8th, at 10 a.m. Come join us!
