Wednesday Afternoon Book Study
For November 12th, The WABS Book Study Group will discuss the novel, Leaving Time, by Jodi Picoult. This is a fascinating story of a young girl who is searching for her mother, who left her 3-year-old daughter and disappeared. But the daughter is now 13 and feels brave enough to take up the search, with the help of a retired police detective and a former psychic.
Each character, Mother, Daughter, Psychic and Detective, has a chapter that moves back and forth through the narrative. Part love story, part mystery, part emotional trauma, part elephant life-guide, (yes, beautiful info on elephant life) this book draws the reader in and captures the heart and mind.
Please join us for a lively discussion and to share books you would recommend. All are welcome. We meet at 10 a.m. in the Church Library, on Wednesday, November 12. (The Book Group does not meet in December, but will resume meeting on January 14, 2026.)
Location: Library
Ages: All

Choir
On November 2nd, at 2:00 p.m. in the Meeting House at Hillcrest, the choir will sing Lord, Don’t Move the Mountain and Rutter’s For the Beauty of the Earth for the Willard Ressler Celebration of Life. On November 7th, at 7:00 p.m., our choir will sing Zion as the anthem for the PSWD Conference worship service to be held in our church. It’s a great time to be a choir member but also a great time to support the choir!
Excitement is growing as preparation for our two Christmas concert performances has begun. Rehearsals have been lengthened. Sales of advertising in our concert program has begun and Choir Patron sign-ups are progressing. Each year this is the biggest event of the year for our church. Can you help? Contact Doug Bro to become a patron or buy an ad that hundreds will view in our concert program and video projection.
Also, we need six ushers for each concert performance. Contact Doug Bro for more information about advertising, becoming a sponsor, or to volunteer. doug.bro22@verizon.net
Finally, there are a few spots still open on the choir tour to Northern Spain this June 1-13! Whether or not you’re a choir member, you can join us! It is shaping up to be a great trip. Contact Laurie Schreiner at laurie.a.schreiner@gmail.com
