Sunday School

Christian Education, like any form of education, starts with the basics—ABC's, 123's, stories of God's love for all God's children. As the students grow, they engage Bible stories and teachings of the church that add layers and invite them to stretch and respond. Throughout this process, our hope is to foster people of faith who are lifelong learners—who relate to the world and to God with open hearts, open Bibles and open minds.

We take a break from Sunday School for the summer.  Classes will resume on September 19.

Nursery
Diane Canova provides loving, professional care for our youngest children (babies to 3 years old) in the downstairs nursery from 9 am until 12 noon.

Pre-Kindergarten (ages 3-5)

Teachers:  Beth Snowden-Ifft and Kristi Karns
Exploring faith through music, art and stories, this class meets in the Pre-K room above the nursery.

Kindergarten—First Grade
Teacher:  Teacher: Jen Duffie
Exploring faith through stories, art and active play, the K-1 class meets in the north classroom above the nursery.

Second—Third Grade
Students hear, respond and connect to stories from the Bible through ritual, story, art and re-telling the story in their own words! They meet in rooms 22-23, located upstairs off the patio hallway.

Fourth—Fifth Grade
Teacher:  Mariza Naylor
Meeting in room 26, upstairs off the patio hallway, older elementary school students experience hands-on learning and creative examination of Bible stories.

Workshop Rotation Model
Kindergarten through 5th graders participate in this alternative Sunday School experience that focuses on a topic discovered through cooking, art, music and story. Beginning in May, this model culminates with the Children's Worship Service in June.

Middle School Youth
Teachers:  Mike & Michael Wolfsen and Janet Ober
Youth in grades 6-8 meet in the room up the east balcony sanctuary stairs. A team of teachers leads the youth in an exploration of the Bible and its connection to concerns of the modern world.

Senior High Youth

Teachers:  Janice Shaw-Morgan, Eric & Shanta Bishop and Janet Ober
Youth in grades 9-12 meet in the youth room downstairs, under the west end of the gym. Working with a team of teachers, the youth choose their own topics for study.
