Susan Boyer has served as Senior Minister at the La Verne Church of the Brethren since 2002. She has been an ordained minister since 1985. She received her B.A. from the University of La Verne and her M.Div. from Bethany Theological Seminary. She experiences the La Verne Church to be a place where she can find community with peace-loving, joy-filled, service-ready, intellectually-engaging, and liberal-minded folk. Susan loves to preach, travel, read and laugh.

Janet Ober has served the La Verne Church of the Brethren as Associate Minister since November, 1999. She received her undergraduate degree from Bridgewater College (Virginia) where she majored in Sociology and Philosophy & Religion. She received a Masters of Divinity degree from Bethany Theological Seminary. At La Verne, Janet makes up part of the pastoral team with an emphasis on ministry to youth and young adults. Janet loves working with youth because, in the words of Loren Cunningham, "Young people do the impossible before they find out its impossible. That's why God uses them so often!"

Rev. Myrna Long Wheeler serves as Minister to Older Adults at this church,
and is Chaplain at Hillcrest Retirement Community in La Verne. After a 37
year career in public education, she answered the call for a second career,
becoming ordained in 2002. Her B.A. is from the University of La Verne; her
M.A. is from Azusa Pacific University; and her ordination is through Bethany
Seminary's Brethren Academy for Ministerial Leadership. Myrna serves on the
Church of the Brethren's Older Adult Ministry Cabinet and the planning
committee for the National Older Adult Conference for the Church of the
Brethren.

Dawna Welch was born and raised in the La Verne Church of the Brethren and has served as the Director of Children and Families Ministries since 2003. Along with the Christian Education Commission, Dawna facilitates and oversees Sunday school curriculum and children's programs including, the Children's Choir, Children's Christmas Program, Rotation Model, Children's Worship Service, Young Peacemakers Camp, Lenten Interest Groups and support for parents through conversation and resource sharing.

Julie Kurtz is responsible for the visitation ministries at LaVerne Church of the Brethren. In that capacity she makes weekly visits to those not able to be in worship; coordinates the prayer chain activity; and facilitates the monthly Fellowship Visitors program, the Sunday morning Hospitality Greeters team, and the Shared Ministries hospital visiting group. She joined the church staff in 1984 as Director of Children's Ministries, serving 15 years in that position. Before working with the church, Julie taught French for six years. She holds a BA in French from Cal-State Fullerton and a California State Secondary Teaching Credential.
